The structure of an internal floating roof storage tank is similar to that of a cone roof tank. However, unlike external floating roof tanks, an internal floating roof storage tank features a fixed roof, which enhances the storage conditions for oil products. This design helps prevent rainwater from entering the tank and slows down the aging of the sealing ring. Additionally, the internal floating roof effectively reduces oil loss. Therefore, the internal floating roof storage tank combines the advantages of both fixed roof and floating roof tanks. According to the American Petroleum Institute, a well-designed internal floating roof is the most effective and cost-efficient solution for controlling oil evaporation losses in fixed roof tanks.
